  • Common Challenges in Sandwich Panel Installation and How to Avoid Them May 06, 2026
Sandwich panels with their excellent thermal insulation performance, light weight, and quick and efficient assembly, are widely used in large cold storage facilities, electronics workshops, factories, poultry houses, clean rooms, and other similar applications. However, many minor errors can occur during installation. Specific errors and how to avoid are as follows:   1. Inadequate sealing of sandwich panel seams leading to leaks or condensation: If the tongue and groove joints of the sandwich panels are not properly sealed, moisture can seep into the core, causing mold growth and even insulation failure.   How to avoid: Ensure proper tongue and groove joints. Longitudinal overlaps in the roof should be ≥200mm. Fill the joints with foam rods first, then apply double-layer weather-resistant sealant to eliminate any breaks.   2. Improper installation of fasteners leading to arching or air leakage: Tilted or unevenly spaced self-tapping screws can cause unevenness on the panel surface and water seepage around the screw holes.   How to avoid: Drive self-tapping screws perpendicular to the base surface, at least 50mm from the edge of the panel; maintain a uniform spacing of 300-500mm, and adjust the torque to avoid excessive pressure and deformation.   3. Misalignment during panel installation leads to unevenness. Insufficient leveling of the substrate or lack of a positioning benchmark during installation can result in uneven gaps due to accumulated deviations.   How to avoid: Use laser leveling to calibrate the substrate before construction; use stainless steel shims for minor adjustments to any deviations; check the flatness after every three panels installed.   4. Damage caused by panel transportation or storage. Moisture buildup during stacking and impacts during installation can cause scratches on the panel surface and moisture absorption in the core material, leading to rust and reduced insulation performance.   How to avoid: Use pallets or pads to elevate and cover composite panels with a rainproof film; use soft slings for hoisting, and prevent steel wire ropes from directly contacting the panel surface.   In short, 30% of the quality of sandwich panel installation depends on the installer's skill. Properly sealing, securing, leveling, and protecting the joints of composite panels during installation can avoid 90% of common problems and reduce later maintenance costs.
  • What Thickness of Sandwich Panel Is Best for Your Project? Feb 23, 2026
Currently, common sandwich panel include EPS sandwich panel, PU/PIR sandwich panel and rock wool sandwich panel.   Generally speaking, the thicker the sandwich panel, the better the insulation effect. PU/PIR has the best thermal insulation performance, rock wool has the best fire resistance, and EPS has the highest cost performance, but no fireproof.   Due to the different properties of the core material, the application of sandwich panels with different core materials is also different, as detailed below.   Thickness EPS Sandwich Panel PU/PIR Sandwich Panel Rock wool Sandwich panel 50mm Suitable for interior wall partitions in ordinary workshops and factories where insulation requirements are not high, as well as prefabricated houses, temporary houses, temporary buildings on construction sites, and general storage. Suitable for roofs and walls of warehouses at normal temperatures, as well as steel structure exterior walls and roofs. Suitable for interior walls and partitions of ordinary factory buildings with high fire protection requirements and general insulation requirements, as well as walls of simple warehouses and temporary buildings. 75mm Suitable for industrial buildings with no strict temperature requirements, such as general warehouses, logistics warehouses, steel structure workshops, and livestock farms. Suitable for general cold storage and insulation, constant temperature workshops (such as electronics, packaging, light industry, etc.), food processing plants, beverage plants, pharmaceutical and electronics cleanrooms, etc. Suitable for general warehouses, logistics centers, office buildings, workshops, and showrooms. 100mm Suitable for walls and roofs of large factories and warehouses, stadiums, markets, and large steel structure buildings, etc. Suitable for industrial buildings, cold storage (0-5℃), food processing workshops, cold chain warehouses, etc., where high insulation and fire protection requirements are needed. Suitable for high-standard factories, cleanrooms, hospitals, schools, public buildings, etc. 150mm Suitable for buildings with high insulation requirements but limited budgets, such as ordinary factories and warehouses in cold regions. Suitable for high-end constant temperature and humidity workshops, pharmaceutical warehouses, low-temperature cold storage (-18℃), cold chain logistics centers, dairy, meat and seafood processing workshops, etc. Suitable for public buildings with strict fire protection requirements, large warehouses, long-span factories, and buildings with extremely high requirements for thermal insulation/sound insulation, such as concert halls.     In short, 50mm sandwich panels are suitable for interior walls, simple interior partitions, etc.; 75mm sandwich panels are suitable for ordinary factories and warehouses, etc.; 100mm sandwich panels are suitable for food factories and low-temperature cold storage, etc.; and 150mm sandwich panels are suitable for low-temperature cold storage and high-standard buildings, etc.
  • Can Sandwich Panels Withstand Heavy Industrial Use? Sep 21, 2025
Good Quality Control Sandwich panel is the best choice for factories and warehouses in many industries. The panel is combined by two metal sheets with rock wool or eps/pu, pir foam in the middle. The production uses high-pressure combination process that makes panels strong enough for heavy industrial use. We have a strict testing of each panel before packing and loading.   Good Fire-Proof Performance Rock wool sandwich panel has a very good fire proof performance for industrial buildings. With 50mm thickness rock wool core, it will have 60 minutes of fireproof time. While the thickness increases to 100mm, and you get 120 minutes of fireproof time. This kind of sandwich panel will give people enough time to escape while on a fire.   Good Noise Control There is lots of loud machinery and equipment noise at some Industrial sites. As professional acoustic sandwich panel supplier, Propanel’s rock wool sandwich panels can keep down noise levels obviously. Rock wool noise-absorbing sandwich panel can effectively absorb noise and provide workers with a healthier working environment.   Energy-saving and Cost-saving  Although the initial cost may seem high, sandwich panel saves money in the long run. It’s insulation advantages reduce energy costs. The panel has anti-rust, anti-mold, and anti-pest performance with only common treatment. Most panels have 20 to 30 years life time and only needs basic cleaning work. Quick installation of less construction work also saves money for the project.
