  • How do you maintain and clean cold room wall panels? May 12, 2026
Generally, cold rooms use food-grade PU/PIR insulation sandwich panels. Regular maintenance and cleaning can effectively extend the lifespan of the wall panels and save costs.   Cold room wall panel maintenance and cleaning includes the following:   1. Monthly Regular Inspection: Check for scratches, blistering, discoloration, or other abnormalities in the wall panel coating; check for cracks, peeling, or aging of the sealant at the panel joints; check for looseness or leakage at corners and equipment fixing points; check for condensation or icing in the insulation layer. Repair any problems promptly.   2. Quarterly Sealing Structure Maintenance: Conduct a comprehensive inspection of the sealant at the cold storage panel joints and door/window frames every quarter. If aging, cracking, or peeling is found, re-seal with the same type of food-grade low-temperature resistant sealant to ensure the air-tightness of the cold storage.   3. Metal Surface Coating Protection and Repair: Drilling, nailing, and hanging heavy objects on the cold room wall panels are strictly prohibited to avoid damaging the metal anti-corrosion coating and insulation layer. Minor scratches on the coating should be repaired promptly with the same type of food-grade anti-corrosion coating to prevent further rusting and corrosion. Do not scratch the panels with hard objects to avoid permanent damage to the coating.   4. Temperature, Humidity, and Cargo Management: Strictly control the temperature and humidity inside the cold storage to avoid frequent fluctuations that can cause condensation and icing on the panels, which will damage the sealant and corrode the panels over time. Cargo inside the cold storage should be kept at least 10cm away from the wall panels to prevent direct contact with moisture and corrosion. Ensure proper airflow circulation to prevent localized condensation.   5. Annual Professional Maintenance: A professional cold room engineering company should conduct a comprehensive professional maintenance of the wall panels annually, including testing the insulation, sealing, and anti-corrosion performance of the coating. Timely identification and systematic repair of potential problems can extend the lifespan of the panels by more than 30% and significantly reduce long-term energy consumption during cold storage operation.   In summary, cold room wall panels should be kept clean and gently, inspected regularly, and maintained promptly. Ensuring the cleanliness of cold room meets industry compliance requirements maximizes the lifespan of the materials used, reduces long-term energy consumption during cold storage operation, and guarantees the safety and quality of stored goods.
